Castillo de Monjardin Chardonnay Gran Reserva 2016
Castillo de Monjardin Chardonnay Gran Reserva 2016
There are very few Chardonnays in Spain capable of undergoing Reserve aging while remaining fresh, lively, full-bodied, and elegant. Thanks to the unique climate of the Monjardín Valley, we obtain the right conditions to produce this style of wine.
A very limited-production wine, made only in exceptional vintages using the finest grapes of the harvest.
After a pre-fermentation cold maceration, the wine undergoes fermentation in new French Allier oak barrels for approximately 25 days. It is then aged on its lees for around 18 months, with frequent bâtonnage (lees stirring), creating a rich, creamy, and rounded texture.
The wine is subsequently bottle-aged for a minimum of 10 years, during which it continues to evolve and develop complex tertiary aromas.
