Background & Composition
Second wine of Château d’Issan, featuring fruit from younger vines, elegantly crafted in the Margaux style.
Blend: Approximately 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 48% Merlot.
Aging: Matured in French oak barrels for 14–18 months, with about one-third to half being new oak depending on the source.
Vintage conditions: Benefited from a wet winter and spring, followed by a hot, dry summer and ideal ripening leading into harvest. Yields were moderate, producing small, concentrated berries with thick skins.
Tasting Profile
Appearance: Pronounced ruby red.
Aromas: Red and black fruits such as strawberry, raspberry, blackberry; nuanced with spice, toast, underbrush, tobacco, and forest floor notes.
Palate & Texture: Medium-bodied with refreshing acidity, supple and creamy tannins, a refined texture, and toasty or mineral elements on the finish.
Finish: Harmonious, elegant, with a lingering mineral or spicy undertone.
